- What is The Autism Connection? - The Autism Connection was started out of a necessity for parent support in the North Central Ohio area. The website is designed to connect parents and give them effective access to helpful resources and support.
Among other things, “theautismconnection.org will:
• Specify the dates and times for the monthly parent meetings
• Share the latest news and research about Autism
• Provide links to other helpful sites concerning Autism
• Provide opportunities to borrow books and videos
• Provide helpful information such as locations and dates for workshops etc.
I want to give you some information about who I am and what I do. My name is Michelle Wagner and I'm a special needs preschool teacher who's had a special interest in Autism since my very first teaching experience.
Throughout my career teaching preschool children with special needs, I've seen the number of children with Autism increase dramatically. Because of this, I felt that starting The Autism Connection would be an excellent way for me to support children with Autism as well as their families.
I obtained my Master’s degree as a specialist in Early Childhood Intervention from Ashland University and my Bachelor’s degree in Special Education K-12 from Ohio Dominican University. I’ve been a special education teacher for 10 years, 8 of which have been spent teaching preschool.
I've attended several trainings in Autism and Sensory Integration Therapy and have earned a certificate in the STACK (Structured Teaching for Autism and Communication-delayed Kids) method of treatment.
